Intent
At Selly Park, we offer a broad, balanced and aspirational curriculum to ensure our pupils learn from and about religion as this will enable them to understand the world around them.
Through a vibrant learning environment in Religious Education, pupils develop their knowledge of world faiths as this helps remove any potential barriers to learning. Through engaging and inspirational teaching, pupils become more aware of the beliefs, values and traditions of other individuals, societies and communities. This helps add to our pupils’ cultural capital opportunities.
The Spiral curriculum delivered helps build pupils’ prior learning and encourages them to ask questions about the world around them reflecting on their own values and beliefs. Pupils are helped to prepare to make the right choices to help them in the next stage of their education, training or employment.
Whole school Character virtues are embedded in lessons as pupils become more confident, motivated and resilient learners.

We are waiting for the QCA to approve the proposals of the Examination Boards. The RE department is looking at various options available to us and will make a final decision in terms of which syllabus and examination boards content best suits our students' needs once the final teaching specifications have been approved and published.
