Further and Higher Education
The school has formed a strong partnership with IntoUniversity which has been central to the success of the careers programme and allowed students across all year groups to be better informed of higher education. The school is proud to be nominated for the Secondary School of the Year’ by IntoUniversity. During the return to school in March 2021, all year groups were involved in an IntoUniversity higher education virtual workshop with year 7 focusing on working independently, year 8 focusing on GCSE options and year 9 focusing on an introduction to university life including student finance. Year 10 focused on communication in the workplace looking at interview techniques and CV writing and year 11 looking at post-16 options and careers.
Additionally, universities are invited into school during careers fairs with a focus on degree courses as well as newer degree apprenticeships and other technical education routes such as apprenticeships. Further education colleges including sixth-form colleges and school sixth-forms are also invited as part of the further and higher education theme. Pupils have meaningful encounters where they are asked to complete a quiz after going around all providers of post 16 providers as well as apprenticeships and further training.
