The school introduced a cashless catering system in September 2015, this system is intended to improve the lunchtime experience for all our pupils, incorporates the latest technology and eliminates the need for girls to carry cash throughout the day.  

Parents and Carers can top up their daughters lunch account via the Parentmail app.

As the system is biometric, there is no need for pupils to carry a card or remember a PIN number because the system will recognise each girls finger at the tills.

Any amount of money can be paid into a pupil's account and any money spent on food and drink will be deducted on a daily basis. The school has installed a daily spend limit £5.00, this can be increased or decreased for an individual pupil by parents making a written request to Mrs Stott, School Business Manager.

To enable pupils to use this system we need to register biometric information, this is done via finger image, which is turned into a digital signature. This information remains within the school and cannot be used by any other source for identification purposes. The system converts the pupil's finger image into a mathematical algorithm. The image of the finger is then discarded and information that is stored cannot be used to recreate an image of the pupil's finger.

When a pupil leaves the school all data will be deleted in line with current legislation. The school operates an 'opt-in' policy and therefore requires the consent of at least one parent before a pupil's biometric information can be processed. Should a parent choose not to have their daughter registered on the biometric system the school will contact parents to explain the alternatives.

Please note that any alternatives do not have the same level of security as biometric registration and, if issued, it is the pupil's responsibility to remember her PIN and keep it secure at all times. Our preference is to use biometric registration as this is far more secure and faster than any other method of identification; we would greatly appreciate the cooperation of all parents with regards to this matter.
